Whats Up Nails Vinyls and Dazzle Dry Pastels

Hi Everyone!!

I am slowly continuing to make my way through folders of unposted nail art. It is kind of fun to go back and remember those manicures. It has also been inspiring me to keep playing around and making more nail art. I debated splitting this post into a few different ones, but eventually decided it would be better as one. All three of the manicures that I will show today use nail vinyls from Whats Up Nails and the pastel shades from Dazzle Dry Sweethearts collection whose swatches I posted a couple of days ago.

Chevrons!
First up is a manicure created using chevron nail vinyls...

Whats Up Nails Chevron Tape comes in 3 different sizes: skinny, regular and wide.
These vinyls are nice an thick, they are easy to handle and apply. For reference, the skinny ones are about 1mm or roughly the thickness of striping tape. They stick very well to the nail and peel off easily to create clean lines, leaving no residue behind. I tried out all three of them for my manicure...

For the manicure and all the rest of the manicures in this post, I used three Dazzle Dry shades: You Rock (pistachio yellow), LOL (mint green) and Tweet Me (peach). Square metal nail studs are from Born Pretty Store...

It was fun to discover that I took photos for a tutorial along the way, so here it is. Sorry the nail polish colors for some reason are not accurate.

Steps for pictorial:
1. Start out with a base color, make sure it is completely dry.
2. Apply skinny and wide chevron tape as shown below.
3. Paint the nail using the 2nd color and quickly remove nail vinyls. Allow this to fully dry.
4. Apply medium or wide chevron tape as shown below.
5. Paint the tips using a 3rd color and quickly remove the nail vinyls.
6. Add nail studs if desired. Apply top coat to seal in the manicure.
(Don't forget cuticle clean up if  you happen to be as messy at painting nails as I am...)

Stripes!
Next up is a striped manicure using the same Dazzle Dry shades as above: You Rock (pistachio yellow), LOL (mint green) and Tweet Me (peach).

For this manicure, I used Whats Up Nails Straight Tape, which is also available in three sizes of skinny, regular and wide. The skinny tape is just about the size of striping tape, measuring at ~1mm.

To create the manicure, I started out with a minty base and roughly painted half of the nail in yellow...

I then randomly applied different sizes of the straight tape vinyls, making sure to leave the blue/yellow polish line exposed. Dazzle Dry polishes dry so quickly that there is hardly any wait time before applying the vinyls (as you can see above they dry to a matte finish). The quick dry time, however, means the vinyls need to be removed even faster than usual to ensure a clean line. I learned that the hard way...

After applying the peach shade over the entire nail, I was left with this striped result...

Zig Zag!
Last, but certainly not least, is this zig zag manicure. Created with, you guessed it, 3 Dazzle Dry pastel shades: You Rock (pistachio yellow), LOL (mint green) and Tweet Me (peach).

For this manicure, I used Whats Up Nails Zig Zag Tape which also comes in the three sizes of skinny, regular and wide. As with the chevron and straight vinyl tape above, the skinny zig zag are ~1mm wide, approximately the same size as striping tape.

I used all three of the zig zag tape sizes as you can see below. This time, I started with a peach base.

Between the zig zag tape, I used the minty green and yellow, in a random pattern. I wasn't quite as quick with removing the nail vinyls as I should have been, considering how quickly this polish dries and therefore my lines aren't as perfect as I would have liked.

This manicure makes me think of Easter eggs. A perfect mani for Spring time...

I hope you enjoyed these manicures! I'd love to know what you think of them :)

Thanks for looking!
